YOUR CAREER. THEIR FUTURE.

“… professional career success comes from drawing out the best in each student
and maximizing that student’s future opportunities.”

The Welch College School of Education offers a Master of Arts in Teaching degree with specialty tracks in Classroom Teaching, Special Education, and Instructional Leadership. Each 10-week course is offered on-campus, in-person, and remotely via Zoom. Courses for each term begin in February, June, and October.

Classroom Teaching Track

The Classroom Teaching Track is designed to enhance the craft of teaching for K-12 teachers in Christian, public, and private schools. Track courses address contemporary issues including pedagogy, literacy, assessment, exceptional students, and legal issues. Completed MAT courses may also contribute to the requirements necessary for a Tennessee license to teach.

Special Education Track

The Special Education Track is designed to develop skills and concepts for teachers of exceptional students. Completion of this track can also lead to K-8 Special Education Endorsement for teachers already licensed in Tennessee or to initial licensure in Special Education.

Instructional Leadership Track

The Instructional Leadership Track provides preparation for individuals who are pursuing opportunities as K-12 educational administrators in Christian, public, and private schools. Completion of this track can also lead to a Tennessee license endorsement for instructional leadership.
