College can be expensive. For some, attending Welch College is impossible without some form of financial help. Several kinds of financial aid are available to help defray these costs.
Welch offers more than $4 million in student financial aid each year. Approximately 90% of our students receive financial aid, including institutional loans, grants, and scholarships as well as federally and state-funded grants and loans. Welch consistently ranks high in U.S. News and World Report as one of the top colleges in the U.S. in the awarding of merit-based scholarships.
The majority of financial aid is based on a student’s documented financial need (see definition of financial need below). If you think you qualify for any form of financial aid, please read the following information carefully and apply according to the stated procedure.
Tuition and Fees
$368 – Cost per credit hour (most courses are 2-3 hours)
$75 – Average cost for books per course
$1,179 – Average cost per 3 hour course
$811 – Average cost per 2 hour course
How to Apply for Financial Aid
The financial aid process is the same for campus students and for online students. Online students should consult the Financial Aid section of the college’s website for the most up-to-date details.
When applying for financial aid, here are things you should keep in mind.
- File the FAFSA, even when you think you will not be eligible for a Pell Grant. You will need it to obtain a loan.
- Submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on the Web.
- File the FAFSA at the same time you file your tax return.
- You will need information from your tax return to complete the FAFSA.
- Full-time status is not a requirement for federal aid.
Note: If you anticipate not filing a tax return, contact the Financial Aid Office staff for instructions. Students may also qualify for additional grants or scholarships. Students may also benefit from income tax credits. Welch College is also approved to use Veteran Benefits and Tuition Assistance.
