Today’s teachers are expected to fulfill many roles, serving not only as learning facilitators but also as mentors, counselors, visionaries, role models and more.
Though the investment is demanding, we believe there are few higher or more rewarding callings than that of teacher. Our professors equip students to serve in any educational setting while strengthening their faith as the firm foundation for their careers.
Students of the Teacher Education program will be equipped to give children and youth the learning tools to make positive life choices. You will be equally prepared to serve in the areas of academic teaching, missions, literature, and church education.
Our programs of study to help students develop into competent Christian educators, especially for Christian schools but also for licensure in Tennessee to teach in public or private schools. Each program emphasize quality academic and pedagogical preparation and practice that will prepare students for entry into graduate school.
“The teaching program at Welch gave me knowledge of child development and teaching strategies along with experience in the classroom. When I stepped into my very own classroom on the first day of my teaching career,I knew I was equipped to teach those children because of my college experience. The professors at Welch are experienced and caring. They are passionate about preparing the next generation of teachers. Teacher Education students are placed in classrooms and given opportunities to teach from the beginning of the program. Most importantly, Welch taught me to view my students as precious children created in the image of God rather than test scores. That idea is what makes teaching my ministry.”
