Welch Collegiate Academy

Earn your associate’s degree while still in high school through dual enrollment at Welch College.

The new Welch Collegiate Academy provides high-achieving high school juniors and seniors an opportunity to enroll in a Christ-centered collegiate experience at Welch College, earning both a high school diploma and a college associates degree at the same time.

 

How It Works

  • Students will commute to the Welch campus and take up to 62 credit hours of courses.
  • At the end of this two-year experience, students who satisfactorily complete required courses will receive a high school diploma from Christian Community Schools and an Associate of Arts degree (A.A.) from Welch College.
  • Credit earned is eligible for transfer to any accredited college or university.
  • Some students may wish to remain enrolled in their high school or home school and enroll in college-credit courses at Welch Collegiate Academy.

Admission Requirements

  • Completion of 11 high school credits
  • 3.00 GPA
  • 21 ACT composite score
  • Church involvement and spiritual maturity

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Who will teach the classes?

A: Welch Collegiate Academy students will be enrolled in college courses (most at the freshman or sophomore level) with regular Welch College students, and the courses will be taught by regular faculty at Welch College.

Q: May I attend part-time and still attend and graduate from another school?

A: Yes. Students may, based on the requirements of their schools or their homeschool requirements, attend Welch Collegiate Academy on a part-time basis.

Q: Can I be involved in the arts at Welch?

A: Yes. WCA students are eligible to audition for the arts at Welch, including musical ensembles such as the Welch College Choir, Rejoice! vocal ensemble, the instrumental ensemble, as well as theatrical productions such as the fall play and spring musical and the theatrical touring ensemble The Evangel Players.

Q: Can I be involved in intercollegiate athletics at Welch?

A: Since NCCAA rules require that athletes be high school graduates, WCA students are not eligible to participate on Welch athletic teams.

Q: Can I continue to be involved in extracurricular activities such as sports or the arts at my high school?

A: Yes. TSSAA provisions for homeschooled students will apply to students who participate in athletics. Homeschooled students would participate in the arts (i.e. music, theater, forensics, etc.) based on the partner school schedule and practice requirements.
