We award an $8,000 scholarship for homeschool graduates.

That’s right! We provide a $2,000 per year (distributed over 4 years) institutional scholarship just because you’ve been homeschooled. We think Christian education should start in the home, and we’re ready to put our money where our mouth is when it comes to this firmly held conviction.

We accept the CLT Exam as a standardized test.

We accept CLT scores just as we do ACT and SAT scores. Several of our friends in the homeschool community have expressed the unique fit that the CLT provides, and we’re listening.

We offer small class sizes, personalized attention, and free tutoring.

“Overwhelming” does not even begin to describe the feeling of walking into a lecture hall of 300 people on your first day of class. Not at Welch. Our student-to-faculty ratio is 10 to 1. That means you’re not a mere number; you’re not lost in a sea of faces. At Welch, you’re an individual with a name, and you’ll receive personal attention from a faculty that wants you to thrive socially, academically, and spiritually. Your first-year classes will rarely have more than 40 students (class sizes are capped at 49 students), and your upper-level classes will often have just a handful of other students. We also provide free tutoring for our students because we know that you may need a little boost as you transition into a different academic environment.

We are unapologetically Christian in every aspect.

We’re not just Christian in name only—we are a Christian Christian college! Our faculty members are faithful followers of Christ who serve in their local churches. They will teach, affirm, and support your faith, not undermine it. Our extracurricular campus activities are wholesome and Christ-honoring. We have conduct expectations that provide guardrails for you (e.g. curfew for dorm students, church attendance requirement, dating expectations, campus dress/appearance guidelines). Also, our admissions requirements ensure that all students confess Christ as Savior. Truly, we are a Christian community of faith and learning.

We have academically rigorous programs.

Regardless of what career field you are entering into, Welch has you covered with our associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees in over 50 programs of study. Welch College is consistently ranked as one of the best colleges in the South by US News & World Report. We’ve earned this distinction because of our dedication to academic quality with personal attention. More than 65% of our professors have doctorate degrees in their area of study; they are experts in their respective fields and you get to learn from them in an intimate classroom setting.
