How do I get started with Tennessee Hope, Promise, or Reconnect?
To see if you are eligible for Hope, Promise, or Reconnect you must first do two things:
- Register at the TSAC student portal. Be sure to follow all the instructions on this page carefully.
- Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.gov. Be sure to enter Welch College’s school code (030018).
What is the Tennessee HOPE Scholarship?
The HOPE Scholarship is awarded to entering freshmen who are enrolled at an eligible postsecondary institution within sixteen (16) months after graduating from a TN eligible high school. For four-year and two-year institutions with on-campus housing, like Welch College, students receive up to $1,750 per full-time enrollment semester as a freshman and sophomore; then up to $2,250 per full-time enrollment semester as a junior and senior. For more information, visit the info page provided by THEC and TSAC.
What is the Tennessee PROMISE Scholarship?
Tennessee students who graduate from an eligible high school, homeschool, or earn a GED/HISET (prior to 19th birthday) can receive an award at an eligible postsecondary institution toward tuition and mandatory fees after all other gift aid has been first applied. In other words, the scholarship is a “last dollar” scholarship that will help cover tuition and fees not covered by the Pell Grant, the HOPE scholarship, or TSAA funds.
For more information, visit the info page provided by THEC and TSAC, or visit the Tennessee Promise website.
What is the Tennessee RECONNECT Grant?
The TN Reconnect is available to adult students who have not previously earned an associate or baccalaureate degree. To be eligible you must be independent according to the FAFSA rules and are enrolled part-time in an eligible program of study.
