The Certificate of Biblical & Ministry Studies
supports volunteers and 
pastors in the local church.

The Certificate of Biblical and Ministry Studies is designed to support and enhance the ministry of volunteer workers in the local church as well as bi-vocational pastors. The courses are available online. The subjects that make up this certificate of 15 credit hours are the following:

BIB 1100 – Introduction to Biblical Studies, 2 hours
BIB 1011 – Old Testament Survey: Law and History, 3 hours
BIB 1031 – New Testament Survey: The Epistles and Revelation, 3 hours
BIB 1250 – Evangelism and Discipleship, 2 hours
BIB 2032 – Old Testament Survey: Poetry and Prophecy, 2 hours
BIB 2062 – New Testament: Gospels and Acts, 2 hours
MIN 1907 – Local Church Internship, 1 hour

Transferable college credit, available online or on-campus!

The Certificate of Biblical and Ministry Studies has two primary learning objectives:

Students who receive this certificate will be able to

  • Apply and demonstrate biblical principles of Christian thought and living in consistent witnessing.

  • Support and extend the ministry of the local church in their community. This certificate is intended to provide quality basic instruction for the ministry of the local church.

All courses offered in this Certificate will be provided through Welch College’s student management system, Populi. Through Populi, all students will have access to student services and student support services, including technical assistance, counseling, library training, library resources, and the Student Services Department.

Students interested in obtaining the Certificate in Biblical and Ministry Studies will be admitted as full students and are subject to all standard admission requirements as defined in Welch College Policy 3300.

Students in the certificate program will receive the same courses and materials, as well as the same quality and rigor of those courses, that other students take at Welch. Should a student wish to continue his or her studies after completing the certificate, all certificate courses will be advanced toward the selected degree. Students should contact the adult and online studies office to complete a new program declaration form.
