The trip to St. Louis this weekend was long, but well worth it as the Flames opened their volleyball season in style, sweeping the Lady Soldiers in straight sets; 25-18, 25-13, 25-13.
Leading the way for Welch College was Maddie Lindgren with nine kills. Freshman, Lauren Strickland had 16 aces and Emily Whitworth and Rachel Burns had 16 and 9 digs, respectively.
“I appreciate the intensity with which they played today,” said fourth year Flames’ coach, Amy Walker. “It’s a good start to the season and I am really excited to see what we will accomplish this season.”
The Flames will have their season home opener next Saturday, September 7 as they host Mid-East Region foe, Kentucky Christian University.
