The Master of Arts (M.A.) Degree in Biblical Studies will prepare you for a life of service deeply rooted in God’s Word.

The Master of Arts in Biblical Studies is designed for students who desire to pursue graduate level academic work in the area of Biblical Studies. The M.A. prepares students to teach Bible at an undergraduate level and in the local church. The program offers students a concentration of 18 credit hours in either Old or New Testament, depending on whether the student chooses the Hebrew Exegesis elective or the Greek Exegesis elective and the thesis topic (whether Old or New Testament). Students entering the program without a background in theological studies will also need to meet the Theological Studies prerequisite or its equivalent (10 credit hours).

M.A. in Biblical Studies | Program Outcomes


Students who successfully complete the program should demonstrate:

  • Competency in biblical languages (Biblical Hebrew and Biblical Greek) at the intermediate level.
  • Understanding and application of the exegetical principles necessary for the study of the text of the Old and New Testaments.
  • Understanding and application of hermeneutical principles in the service of interpreting Christian scripture.
  • Competency in researching a specific area of biblical scholarship for the church.
