Dr. Matt Pinson, president of Welch College, launched a blog on January 24 entitledMatthewPinson.com. “I’ve finally decided to start a blog,” Pinson said. “For years people have suggested that I start blogging. Many of them have used the argument that the president of our nationally sponsored denominational college needs to be blogging. I suppose this is what finally got me thinking about it.”
The blog, with the three descriptors, “Christianity, Leadership, Culture,” will primarily discuss matters of how Christian faith affects believers’ lives, families, and churches as they interact with culture. The blog will also discuss issues surrounding leadership and education and will comment on happenings on the Welch campus.
Pinson said, “Recent studies have shown that a large percentage of college and seminary presidents blog—even more than corporate CEOs. A blog helps supporters of their institutions know what the president is thinking, what his vision is, what his theology or philosophy is. It also gives the president an opportunity to reflect on happenings on campus in a more informal way than would be seen in a typical news release.”
David Williford, Welch’s vice president for institutional advancement, said, “I and others have long encouraged President Pinson to begin blogging. He has a wealth of wisdom and information that needs to be shared with the wider Free Will Baptist and evangelical world. I think people will enjoy regularly visiting the blog.”
