The Welch College student-led revival took place October 5-8, and featured church planter Marc Neppl. He challenged students to make sure they are intentionally using their testimonies and education and strategically placing themselves where the gospel may be spread most effectively.
Student body Chaplain David Dell said, “We were blessed to have Brother Marc share his heart with us during our student-led revival. His faithfulness in preaching God’s Word and his passion for furthering the gospel left a profound impact on the students of Welch College. The Holy Spirit worked mightily in each service, and we look forward to the great things God is going to do on and through our campus as a result.”
Marc and his wife Casie are currently raising funds to plant a church in urban Portsmouth, Virginia, with Free Will Baptist North American Ministries. The Welch College societies raised $1,333.03 for this work during the week of the revival.

Welch College 69
Truett-McConnell JV 40
October 20, 2014. Two years ago, Coach Larry Bryan believed that the 2014-15 season would be a special one. The Welch fans were able to witness some of that Monday evening as the Lady Flames easily disposed of Truett-McConnell’s JV, 69-40.
The game started out slowly as neither team could find the basket. Midway through the first half, the Flames had a meager 10-4 lead. But, then Welch went on a scoring run, led by freshman Claire Ryan, to take a 30-18 lead into the locker room.
The second half was much like the first, but the Flames were able to maintain the momentum they had in the first half and extend their lead while pressuring TMC into rushing their shots. And, because of that pressure, the Flames were able to push the ball up the court on offense, allowing them a number of open looks because of some excellent passing.
“I knew this would be an exciting freshman class,” said Coach Bryan. “I have been anticipating their arrival for a long time. It is fun to watch them mesh with our returnees. I was really proud of the way we played as a team. We still have things to work on, but this was a good start.”
All of the Flames got into the scoring column with Ryan leading the way with 16 points. There was also balance on the boards as four Flames grabbed seven rebounds apiece. Jessie Melvin and Ashton Johnson dished out six and five assists, respectively.
Welch’s next game will be on October 31st when they host Toccoa Falls College. Game time is set for 3:00pm.

NASHVILLE, TN—In an effort to discover where Free Will Baptist teenagers stand on crucial beliefs and behaviors, Welch College is sponsoring a survey aimed specifically at Free Will Baptist youth, according to Dr. Barry Raper, program coordinator for Pastoral Ministry. Dr. Raper said, “While scores of surveys have been conducted in recent years across denominational lines informing us of American teens and their faith, no extensive research has been available on Free Will Baptist youth. I hope the results of this survey can give an accurate picture of the spiritual condition of youth within our churches.”
A survey instrument was created to measure certain beliefs and practices ranging from beliefs about the Bible and Jesus Christ to key ethical issues within American culture. The anonymous survey is designed to be administered to youth groups by youth pastors or youth leaders.
A small group of youth pastors in the Nashville area served as an advisory board and also agreed to be the first group to administer the survey. The plan is to take the survey to local associations, state camps, and youth retreats. Results of the survey will then be analyzed and made available by the 2015 National Convention of Free Will Baptists in Grand Rapids.
If you would like more information about the survey or would like to participate, please email Dr. Barry Raper at braper@welch.edu.
